Havre de Grace Main Street Receives Award

Havre de Grace Main Street, Inc., was presented with the Promotional Excellence Award by Main Street Maryland at its Annual Awards Luncheon on May 29, 2009. The luncheon was a celebration of the success of the Main Street program in Maryland, which currently is operating in 25 communities.

The Maryland Department of Housing & Community Development's Division of Neighborhood Revitalization is the coordinating agency in the State of Maryland for the national Main Street Center and each year gives out only one award in each of the five areas of the program. The five areas are Organization, Promotion, Design, Economic Restructuring, and Clean Safe & Green. The Promotional Excellence Award is given "in recognition of a retail promotional activity, special event and/or marketing campaign that supports a positive image of the commercial district and encourages consumers and investors to live, work, shop, play, and invest in the Main Street District."
