Bel Air Police Department Will Begin Carrying Naxolone

(BEL AIR, MD)  In an effort to become more proactive in dealing with the growing heroin issue, the Bel Air Police Department will begin carrying Naxolone.  Naxolone, commonly known by its brand name Narcan, can be administered by officers to subjects experiencing, or believed to be experiencing an opioid overdose.  Narcan can help prevent a fatal overdose when emergency medical personnel are not readily available. Workshop Planned to Assist Professionals in Reducing Suicides in Youth & Young Adults in Harford

Bel Air, MD-- On May 14, 2015, the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health will host a workshop in partnership with the Harford County Department of Community Services and Harford County Health Department.  The workshop will provide primary care, pediatric and mental health providers with the skills and resources needed to employ more effective intervention strategies in the county for purposes of moving the county’s behavioral health initiative forward and lowering suicide rates particularly in youth and young adults.  Read more...

Bel Air Police Department Traffic Initiative Kicks-Off in May

(BEL AIR, MD)  During the month of May, the Bel Air Police Department will actively enforce traffic violations that can contribute to crashes.  Interim Bel Air Chief of Police Jack Meckley says, “Warm weather brings with it a dramatic increase in outdoor activities as people take advantage of the many wonderful happenings and events that beautiful downtown Bel Air offers”.   Some of the violations officers will focus on include, distracted driving, failure to use a turn signal, speeding, and illegal turns.  Read more...
