Rescue Me! at Harford Mall Closing After 2 Years

Humane Society of Harford County will continue uniting pets and people at new shelter in Fallston   

Fallston, MD – At the end of June, after nearly two years in operation and 481 cat adoptions, The Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) will close its satellite adoption center at Harford Mall.  The closure is due to the opening of HSHC’s new state-of-the-art shelter in Fallston scheduled for the end of this year. May Is Lyme Disease Awareness Month: Health Department Urges Precaution & Prevention

Bel Air, MD – Spring has returned to Harford County and with that comes a reminder about the risk of Lyme disease, the most common vector borne disease in the United States. With this in mind, the Harford County Health Department wants Harford County residents to be “tick aware”, even in areas they may not consider themselves to be at risk. NY Times Bestselling Author & His Furry Best Friend Service Dog, Tuesday, to Visit Library

(Bel Air, Maryland)  Harford County Public Library is honored to welcome former U.S. Army Captain Luis Carlos Montalván and his service dog, Tuesday, to share their story at the Library’s Bel Air Branch at 6:30 p.m. April 21.

Capt. Montalván never backed down from a challenge during his two tours of duty in Iraq. Like many service members, Capt. Montalván honorably departed the military as a result of physical and psychological wounds. The war continued for him until a highly trained golden retriever named Tuesday entered his life. Plenty of Fun & High-Fives at Bowling Event to Benefit Harford County’s Homeless Animals

Teams of up to 6 players urged to collect pledges, pre-register to bowl and help strike-out pet homelessness on February 21   

Fallston, MD – Yes! It’s not just possible to make a difference for homeless animals and have loads of fun while doing it - it’s guaranteed! The Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) is looking for fun-loving people to assemble a team of friends and/or family and collect pledges to support animals without warm homes and caring families. Then lace up those “attractive” rented bowling shoes and settle in for an afternoon of bowling on Saturday, February 21 from 3:00 – 6:30 p.m. at Forest Hill Lanes, One Maurice Drive in Forest Hill, MD.  All proceeds from this important fundraiser support a very worthy cause - the homeless and neglected animals at HSHC. Read more...

Harford County Health Department Recognizes World Rabies Day

Bel Air, MD – For the seventh consecutive year, The Harford County Health Department will be partnering with Global Alliance for Rabies Control, and 4 Paws Spa and Training Center, Inc. to recognize the importance of World Rabies Day and by offering a very low cost rabies vaccination clinic. 
 
Although World Rabies Day is formally recognized on September 28th, the Harford County Health Department is conducting the clinic on Saturday, September 27th from 1:00-4:00 pm to provide greater public accessibility to the event. Read more...

Kiss-A-Pig Contest Raises Over $35,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County

Club members and staff of Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County are squealing with delight at the success of this year’s annual Kiss-A-Pig contest and fundraiser. Held in conjunction with the MD State BBQ Bash, the Kiss-A-Pig event raised over $35,000 to support the 5 Clubs in Harford County.
 
Eleven individuals and five teams worked tirelessly holding paint nights, selling raffle tickets, and sponsoring happy hours to raise money and bring awareness to the Great Futures that begin through supported programs at the Clubs. Read more...

Claddagh Manor Horse Show & Harford Family House Family Fun Day

On Saturday, August 16, Harford Family House will be joining with Claddagh Manor horse farm in hosting a Horse Show and family fun day at the Equestrian Center 702 Tollgate Road, Bel Air, MD 21014.

The horse show will begin at 8 am and take place throughout the day. The Family fun day will run from 10 am – 4pm and will include pony rides, a petting zoo, face-painting, stick horse races, crafts, vendors, food and much more! Harford County Receives Pet Disaster Relief Trailer
