Auditions for The Nutcracker Scheduled July 25 at the Amoss Center

Harford Community College’s Harford Dance Theatre will hold auditions on Saturday, July 25, for male and female dancers and actors ages 8 through adult for the company’s annual production of the holiday classic, The Nutcracker.  Auditions will be held in the Amoss Center Dance Studio on the campus of Harford Technical High School.  Please enter through the side loading dock doors.  Dancers ages 8 to adult should wear appropriate dance wear such as leotards, tights, solid color skirt/shorts; bring all dance shoes to the audition. Read more...

Hays-Heighe House at Harford Community College Receives Grant

The Maryland Humanities Council has awarded a grant of $9,750 to support an exhibit and related programming at the Hays-Heighe House at Harford Community College.  The exhibit, which is titled “Voices of Change: Social Protest Through the Arts & Humanities,” will open on November 18 and close on April 22, 2016. Nature Storybook Art at Eden Mill Nature Center

At Eden Mill Nature Center on June 23, 30 and July 7, 14 from 10AM-12PM (Except July 7 class will be held 12:30-2:30PM) for ages 5-10.

10th Anniversary of “Best In Show” Art + Design Exhibition at HCC

Marking the tenth anniversary of Student Purchase Awards from the Annual Art + Design Exhibition at the Chesapeake Gallery at Harford Community College, Jenna McDonnell’s “Cactus,” a pigment ink print, was awarded “Best in Show.”  Jurors Cristin Cash, Director of the Boyden Gallery, and Joe Lucchesi, Chair of the Art History Department, both at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, recommended McDonnell’s work to the Chesapeake Gallery Committee for purchase. HCC Receives Maryland Preservation Award for “Faces of Freedom”

The Hays-Heighe House at Harford Community College was recognized with a Maryland Preservation Award for the “Faces of Freedom: The Upper Chesapeake, Maryland, and Beyond” exhibit and educational programming. The award, which was for the category of “Education & Community Engagement – Public Programming,” was presented by the Maryland Historical Trust in Annapolis.  Iris Leigh Barnes, Coordinator for the Hays-Heighe House, accepted the award on behalf of the College. Read more...

Harford Community College is presenting “The Sound of Our Contemporary Fellows,” a concert featuring Pianist Chungwon Lydia Chung, on Sunday, April 12, at 3 PM, in the College’s Joppa Hall, Recital Hall #1.

Phoenix Festival Theater in Fiddler on the Roof at HCC

Phoenix Festival Theater, a community theater at Harford Community College, will perform Fiddler on the Roof in the Chesapeake Theater on Friday to Sunday, March 13-15 and 20-22.  On Friday and Saturday, performances begin at 7 PM; Sunday performances begin at 2 PM. Timber! Cirque Alfonse is Coming to the Amoss Center

Don’t miss the chance to see Timber! Cirque Alfonse when they perform at the Amoss Center in Bel Air on Sunday, March 8 at 3 PM.  It’s a show the whole family will enjoy.   

Cirque Alfonse showcases the rich circus tradition of their native Quebec, blending theatre, live music, and folklore.  This incredibly talented troupe performs epic feats of log walking, hatchet juggling, saw jumping, and unbelievable acrobatics set to the toe-tapping sounds of traditional Quebecois music.  Join the cast for a post-performance Q and A about this innovative cirque experience. Iota Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Donates Books to Library

(Belcamp, Maryland) The Iota Nu chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity made a generous donation of books to the Harford County Public Library at a ceremony held at the Abingdon Library recently. The Library accepted several copies of Brother Rohulamin Quander’s latest release, 50+ Omega Inspired Years: Tracing an Omega Legacy to 1931, to add to its collection. Read more...

Liriodendron Gallery Kicks Off 2015 Season

The Liriodendron Art Gallery begins an exciting new season with colorful and intriguing photographs of nature, Metamorphosis by Linnea L. Nominations Sought for 2015 Harford County Historic Preservation Awards

The Harford County Department of Planning and Zoning in conjunction with the Harford County Historic Preservation Commission is seeking nominations for the 2015 Historic Preservation Awards. As part of this year’s annual celebration, the Commission will present preservation awards to individuals and organizations whose contributions demonstrate outstanding achievements in historic preservation within Harford County. HCC Alumnus Tim Torre Advanced to Finals in Irene Ryan Acting Competition
