It's Time for an Olde-Fashioned Fourth of July in Bel Air!

Bel Air -- The Bel Air Independence Day Committee invites all to join in a tradition-filled, "Olde-Fashioned Fourth of July" in downtown Bel Air this Saturday!   

The day starts off with a ceremonial flag-raising at Bel Air High School at 6:45 a.m., featuring Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 30 and American Legion Post #39, and a musical accompaniment. Mary Hastler Elected President of Maryland Library Association

Belcamp, MD -- Mary Hastler, CEO of Harford County Public Library, has been elected president of the Maryland Library Association. Her term of office starts immediately and runs for one year.   

As president, Hastler’s goal is to establish the Maryland Library Association as the leader in cultivating critical resources and services for its members while raising the awareness and knowledge of Maryland libraries. Read more...

Bel Air Police Department Will Begin Carrying Naxolone

(BEL AIR, MD)  In an effort to become more proactive in dealing with the growing heroin issue, the Bel Air Police Department will begin carrying Naxolone.  Naxolone, commonly known by its brand name Narcan, can be administered by officers to subjects experiencing, or believed to be experiencing an opioid overdose.  Narcan can help prevent a fatal overdose when emergency medical personnel are not readily available. Harford County Bar Foundation Raises $9,000 at Kentucky Derby Party Fundraiser

Bel Air, MD – Harford County Bar Foundation raised $9,000 at its first “Run for the Roses: A Kentucky Derby Party” held at MaGerk’s Pub & Grill in Bel Air. One hundred twenty guests enjoyed the Kentucky Derby festivities that included Appalachian bluegrass band Jake & the Burtones, games of chance, a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, mint juleps and watching the Kentucky Derby won by American Pharoah. Bel Air Police Department Traffic Initiative Kicks-Off in May

(BEL AIR, MD)  During the month of May, the Bel Air Police Department will actively enforce traffic violations that can contribute to crashes.  Interim Bel Air Chief of Police Jack Meckley says, “Warm weather brings with it a dramatic increase in outdoor activities as people take advantage of the many wonderful happenings and events that beautiful downtown Bel Air offers”.   Some of the violations officers will focus on include, distracted driving, failure to use a turn signal, speeding, and illegal turns.  Read more...

Local Businesses Step Up to Support Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®

[Bel Air, MD] — The local business community has really “stepped up” to support SARC’s 7th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® fundraiser, taking place on Saturday, April 25 in downtown Bel Air. The event challenges men to walk a mile in high heels to benefit SARC, the Harford County organization that helps area victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse and stalking.
