Bel Air, MD - “From the British Isles,” the last of the subscription series concerts for the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra for the 2009-10 Season, will be presented on Saturday, May 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Bel Air High School. The concert includes “Irish Tune from County Derry” which was an ancient melody from Northern Ireland that Grainger first published as an a capella choral work. He eventually published eight different versions of the work. The orchestra version reproduces the familiar tune of “Danny Boy” that bespeaks Ireland to many. Read more...
