During the month of February, Homestead/Wakefield Elementary School held a coin collection drive to raise money for the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. This was the school’s third year organizing the collection, but this year the fundraiser held a very special meaning to the students, teachers and administrators.
This year, the school decided to raise the money in honor of former student Dominic Osorio. Dominic was a first grade student at Homestead/Wakefield who was battling brain cancer. Sadly, he lost his fight in November 2009. Read more...
