Harford’s Upper Chesapeake Chorus Takes Third in Regional Competition

Upper Chesapeake ChorusUpper Chesapeake Chorus (UCC), the locally popular women’s show chorus, continued its award-winning ways on April 26th in Sweet Adelines International’s 2009 mid-Atlantic regional competition held in Ocean City, MD.

The 42 women of UCC, led by director Rick Taylor, earned third-place medals and their highest-ever score in the overall competition, simultaneously garnering second-place medals in the mid-size chorus division. UCC competed against 18 other choruses from Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey in the contest, one of 34 Sweet Adelines regional contests around the world every spring. The competitions give each participating chorus an opportunity to see how much its skill and artistry have improved over the previous year, as determined by four internationally sanctioned judges in music, sound, expression, and showmanship.
