Solar panels will
be installed on the roofs of the Chesapeake Center, Student Center, Joppa Hall,
and the APG Federal Credit Union Arena at Harford Community College. The 3,700
panels will generate approximately 16% of the total electric use of the
campus.
By hosting the
solar facility, HCC is reducing carbon dioxide (C0₂) emissions that
would otherwise occur from the generation of electric power from coal and
oil-fired plant sources. The College also saves money because the power is
generated "behind the meter;" since the electric power is not transmitted
through the BGE delivery system, Harford does not pay any BGE delivery charges
