The Hays-Heighe House
at Harford Community College has been accepted as a site on the National
Underground Railroad Network to Freedom, which is a subsidiary of the National
Park Service. It is the first Harford County site accepted as part of the
Network. The Network to Freedom website explains that national Underground
Railroad program was implemented “to coordinate preservation and education
efforts nationwide and integrate local historical places, museums, and
interpretive programs associated with the Underground Railroad into a mosaic of
community, regional, and national stories.” Read more...
