For decades, the natural stream in Plumtree Park never saw
sunshine. Years ago, well-meaning engineers diverted the stream into a
subterranean pipe.
These days, environmental specialists know that even these tiny
streams need air, rainwater, soil and native plants to keep a complex ecosystem
in balance. The solution is to "daylight" these previously hidden tributaries
and return them to their natural state. They can then resume their function of
nourishing local plant and wildlife and keeping downstream waters
